a doll on the outside, the plague on the inside. ( greek proverb )

so today i'm going to share a passion of mine with you. a passion for a country called greece. when i was little ( 12 or 13 ) i went very often to greece with my grandma. i remember one year we even went 2 times down there. unfortunately, i have no good quality pictures i could show you. instead i'm going to show you my lucky charm i got from a very nice man ( owner of a jewellery shop in rhodos ) during my second trip to greece. from the very first day i got this i took it everywhere with me because i really believed in it's "power" :)
well, here is the legend told about my piece of jewellery:
The evil eye is a look that is believed by many cultures to be able to cause injury or bad luck for the person at whom it is directed for reasons of envy or dislike. The term also refers to the power attributed to certain persons of inflicting injury or bad luck by such an envious or ill-wishing look.
Belief in the evil eye during antiquity is based on the evidence in ancient sources like AristophanesAthenaeusPlutarch, and Heliodorus. There are also speculations that claimSocrates possessed the evil eye and that his disciples and admirers were fascinated by Socrates' insistently glaring eyes. His followers were called Blepedaimones, which translates into "demon look," not because they were possessors and transmitters of the evil eye, but because they were suspected of being under the hypnotic and dangerous spell of Socrates. ( cf wikipedia )
today i'm getting some drinks at urban with an old friend of mine, can't wait to see her again! since we meet at 6 i'm probably doing some shopping before at Belval Plaza... i really need a new photoshop ( and some new clothes? )! :)
have a nice day folks!
